About

In Micronesia, TNC continued to help women’s groups implement adaptation strategies identified in their climate vulnerability assessments and action plans, including planting lemongrass and food crops in areas vulnerable to erosion, switching to dry litter piggeries to reduce sedimentation impacting coastal ecosystems, and protecting and restoring important coastal fisheries such as giant clams, mangrove clams and sea cucumbers. Recognizing the success we have had partnering with women’s groups, we are upscaling to work with 36 women’s groups in the FSM and ROP (with plans to expand to RMI, pending grant approval) to build their capacity to implement NbS to climate change in their communities. Due to the role women play in feeding their family most concerns from the women’s groups are centered around food security and how to diversify crops to improve resilience.
