The Pacific Islands Conference series
The Pacific’s headline biodiversity gathering returns 7–11 September 2026 at the Tjibaou Cultural Centre, Noumea. A 5-yearly series since 1975, the 11th edition is co-hosted by SPREP, the Government of New Caledonia and PIRT.
Since its inception in 1975, the Pacific Islands Conference on Nature Conservation has served as the premier regional forum for advancing biodiversity conservation and sustainable natural resource management across the Pacific. Over the past ten conferences, it has brought together governments, intergovernmental organisations, conservation partners, donors, scientists, customary leaders, youth, and local communities to shape a shared vision for nature conservation in the region.
As the highest-level decision-making platform for Pacific conservation, the Conference provides an opportunity to review progress, assess emerging challenges and opportunities, and agree on priorities and commitments that will guide regional action in the years ahead.
The 11th Pacific Islands Conference on Nature Conservation marks an important milestone as conservation leaders and practitioners gather once again in the Pacific. Delegates will adopt the new Pacific Regional Framework for Nature Conservation 2026–2030, State of Environment and Conservation 2025 and endorse a new Declaration, reinforcing the region’s commitment to achieving the goals of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and securing a resilient future for Pacific people and nature.
